Fireworks expected in the Super Bowl

The Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles have locked themselves into the Super Bowl and officially landed in Arizona for the season’s biggest game. As media week has rolled through, both teams seem prepared to go out there and make a statement to the entire world. Let’s see what each team brings to the table ahead of this huge matchup.

The Chiefs bring a championship calibre trio of head coach, quarterback, and tight end. Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are the sole reasons this team is here. Other players have helped, but it’s an entirely different story without these guys. They were the reason that they won a Super Bowl a few years ago and why they’ve made it into five straight AFC Championship games. They are the advantage that the Chiefs hold right here against the Eagles. The rest of their roster is iffy. Isiah Pacheco has been seriously coming on as of late in the backfield, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling is starting to find a more prominent role. However, the rest of their offense could be more consistent. At least the offensive line is vastly better than in previous years. On the other end, the Chiefs have a solid defensive line that’s been playing great the past few weeks. Their linebackers are great against the run and can tackle effectively, also. The downside is their secondary. They have a lot of young talent back there that has tended to get burned throughout the season. This is an enormous test for them against the Eagles’ passing offense. You can be happy if you’re a Chiefs fan coming into this game due to your Big Three.

As for the Eagles, there isn’t a single position that they aren’t good in. That sounds like an overstatement, but it’s true. They have the quarterback in Jalen Hurts and a head coach in Nick Sirianni. They built a phenomenal offensive line with a three-headed running back committee, DeVonta Smith, and AJ Brown. We have yet to talk about the fact they have Dallas Goedert at tight end either, one of the top five players at his position. There’s no denying the talent on this roster, and it would scare me if I were a member of that Chiefs’ incredibly young secondary that has to go up against that. But you might think they lack defense, which isn’t the case. Philadelphia’s veteran defensive line remains dominant against the pass and the run. Their linebackers have taken a step forward, especially TJ Edwards, a tackling machine. Then their secondary has improved with newly added Chauncey Gardner-Johnson leading the league in interceptions. It’s extraordinary how they’ve built this roster, and they should be the overwhelming favourites to win this game.

If we’ve learned anything over the past few years, we should always believe what Mahomes and Andy Reid can bring to the table. Both teams will pull out all the stops in this game to try and cap their season off in the one way they want to. As champions.
