As we continue to scale, we are looking for a Finance Manager to play a key role in strengthening our financial operations and supporting the leadership team through the next phase of growth.

The Role


.

The Finance Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day financial management of the business, working closely with the CFO and acting as a key link between internal teams and external advisors. This is a broad, hands-on role with ownership across reporting, controls, invoicing, tax credits, and year-end processes.

You will work closely with our game, technology, and commercial teams, providing clear financial insight while ensuring robust governance and compliance.

What You’ll Be Doing


.

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Track performance against budget, providing variance analysis and commentary.
  • Manage the month-end close process and maintain accurate financial records.

Invoicing & Revenue Operations

  • Own the invoicing process, ensuring accuracy and timely issuance.
  • Work with commercial and delivery teams to align invoicing with contracts, milestones, and project delivery.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and support effective cash collection.

Year-End & Statutory Accounts

  • Act as the primary point of contact for external accountants.
  • Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for year-end statutory accounts and audits.
  • Coordinate statutory filings and ensure compliance with UK accounting and tax requirements.

Tax Credits & Reliefs

  • Work with the Game Director and production teams on Video Games Tax Relief (VGTR) claims, including eligible cost tracking, cultural test support, and liaison with specialist advisors.
  • Collaborate with the technology and engineering teams on UK Research & Development (R&D) Tax Relief claims (SME or RDEC, as applicable).
  • Coordinate with external advisors and HMRC to support successful submissions.

Operational Finance

  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable.
  • Manage payroll inputs and liaise with external payroll providers.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns and other routine tax filings.
  • Maintain and improve financial controls, processes, and documentation.

Commercial & Stakeholder Support

  • Provide financial insight to support commercial and strategic decision-making.
  • Assist with investor reporting, board packs, and ad-hoc financial analysis.
  • Work with project and game teams to track costs, margins, and project-level profitability.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Own and develop finance systems and workflows as the business scales.
  • Identify opportunities to automate reporting and improve efficiency and data quality.

What We’re Looking For


.

Essential

  • Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in a Finance Manager or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of UK accounting standards and statutory reporting.
  • Experience working with external accountants and year-end processes.
  • Experience managing invoicing and revenue workflows.
  • Strong Excel and accounting system skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.

Desirable

  • Experience in gaming, technology, or other R&D-led businesses.
  • Hands-on experience with VGTR and/or UK R&D Tax Relief.
  • Experience in a scale-up or multi-entity environment.
