Top-tier talent aplenty as the conference championships get underway

2 min read

The Conference Championship games are officially locked in. The Philadelphia Eagles will be getting a home-field advantage against the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC, with the Kansas City Chiefs getting home-field against the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC. You will see top-tier talent everywhere you look at these four teams. Offense, defense, special teams, you name it. Whatever you’re looking for, these teams have it. And it’s why they are looking to make a Super Bowl run.

The AFC Championship: Kansas City Chiefs vs Cincinnati Bengals

Let’s look at the AFC Championship game first. The Chiefs and Bengals met up in this spot a season ago, and the Bengals upset them on the road to advance into the Super Bowl. Reporters have asked Ja’Marr Chase and Joe Burrow about their chances of walking into Arrowhead stadium and beating the Chiefs. They have both quickly responded by saying that they’ve done it before and can do it again this week. The talent and the rhythm are certainly there in Cincinnati, that’s for sure. The Bengals tore apart a strong Buffalo Bills defense, and it didn’t seem like they were getting slowed down. The Chiefs got a nice win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, though there is a growing concern. Superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered a high ankle sprain and returned to finish the contest. It’s been reported that he will play this week, though an ankle sprain like that will severely hinder his movement against a good Bengals defensive line. That’s going to be the factor to watch in this game.

The NFC Championship: Philadelphia Eagles vs San Francisco 49ers

Over in the NFC, the Eagles and 49ers could be the game of the year for sure. It’s hard to find two unbelievably even teams facing off this deep in the playoffs like this, yet here we are. The Eagles have boasted the best offense in the league all season long. Jalen Hurts is playing at an MVP level with playmakers all over the field for him to throw to and an offensive line that consists of a few guys that haven’t allowed sacks in years. Even their defense consists of many strong players, as they forced quite a few turnovers throughout the regular season. The 49ers are the opposite. They have the best defense in the NFL this season, with their offense having just as much talent. Defensively, they have everything that you want out on that side of the field. It’s tough to score points against this unit, and they’ve forced more turnovers than anybody in the league. Their offense has Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, George Kittle, and the best offensive tackle in the league Trent Williams. Both rosters are stacked to the brim with talent and are so evenly matched, it’s insane. Unlike the game between the Chiefs and Bengals, this matchup is expected to be a lower-scoring game. Despite the immense offensive talent, it’s hard to see points coming quickly here.
